About the Event

BASECAMP - is the foundation course of the Journey of no Distance program.

Meditation is a subtle and delicate art. It does not take us anywhere new. It simply allows the mind to finally quieten so that we can experience,  silent formless awareness within which, and by which all experience is known.   Ever present silent awareness which is normally overshadowed by the activity of the mind, bestows peace and happiness in the heart, when the mind quietens and silence is revealed, as self knowing itself.   Meditation is a solitary and very personal path. It represent our commitment to self and the world to establish ourselves  in a genuine and authentic experience of peace and happiness.   This experience changes how we are in our lives, what we bring into the world around us, and how our body maintains itself.    Being awake, with all our powers available, in the immediacy of now.

The Course   This weekend course is to establish a simple meditation practice,  within a clarity of method, purpose, experience and understanding.   You will be given a framework within which to understand the activity of mind and ego.  This understanding supports the practice of meditation  as in our practice we firstly meet the endless activity of the mind before we subside into silent empty awareness.   That silence bestows awareness to experience.

You will leave the course knowing: What do we do, what we do not do, why do we meditate,  how we approach the practice, what can we expect from our practice, what should we not look for in our practice,  what are the bear traps to avoid. In the group process, we will share experiences to widen and deepen our understanding quickly.
